STEM Lectures - Artificial Intelligence

Students at Northampton Academy were given the opportunity to attend a lecture delivered by Professor Jeremy Levesley of the University of Leicester on the subject of Machine Learning.  Students were introduced to the ideas of text recognition being used to provide instant feedback to written responses.  The use of facial recognition software moving the technology forwards from the use of biometric information and how this technology can be applied to fingerprinting.  The students posed some interesting questions of Jeremy about the technology and the potential risks of developing this form of artificial intelligence.

We also welcomed some students from Weston Favell Academy to attend our lecture which was well received by all.

Our next lecture is on Wednesday, May 1st from Dr Stephen James on the uses of optical fibre technology.
