Our First Nucleus Engineering Lecture with Jessica Gagen

On Thursday 11th November we welcomed Jessica Gagen to the Academy who delivered the latest in our Nucleus STEM Lecture programme, and the first Engineering specific lecture.

Jessica is currently a final year student of MEng in Aerospace Engineering. Jess explained the different types of engineering fields and some of the applications of these in everyday life, as well as the careers available within these fields. Jessica also discussed her journey into engineering and echoed Northampton Academy’s values as being key to success in any field.

Jessica then talked about one aspect of engineering in which she is working – the development of non-pneumatic tyres. She explained the different stages in any development process that engineers have to go through, as well as the applications and benefits of this research.
